From the Director »

Last week marked the 31st anniversary of the passing of the Vidyadhara, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Many Shambhala Centres around the mandala hosted the annual Sadhana of Mahamudra Feast to celebrate his life and teachings. Here in Halifax, we celebrated with a wonderful feast, toasts, and a video of the Vidyadhara.

I’d like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who donated to support the Archives this year, along with everyone who continues to give every year! Your generosity allows us to continue to protect and disseminate the Shambhala Dharma throughout the world.

As a sign of our appreciation, we’d like to share a few offerings from the Shambhala Archives. Enjoy!

Yours in the Shambhala Lineage,

The Question of Magic »

This year’s video is from Talk Seven of the Naropa University seminar Iconography of Buddhist Tantra, taught July-August 1975 at Boulder, Colorado. As both an artist and a Buddhist teacher, Chögyam Trungpa developed a unique view of aesthetics and art, viewing art in everyday life as a fundamental discipline. Trungpa Rinpoche’s view of perception is expressed as ‘visual dharma’ in this excerpt from his ten talk seminar on symbolism and iconography.

True Perception: Iconography of Buddhist Tantra is an example of the work of the Shambhala Archives to preserve and share his teachings. Your support for our work is deeply appreciated!
